The Legend of Lyra

The name for Lyra Project was inspired by the legend of the Lyre of Orpheus. The Lyre was given to Orpheus by the Greek god Apollo. The music of Orpheus could charm people, and even Nature herself would stop to listen, enraptured by his music

Angry people and wild beasts were soothed, and Orpheus with his Lyre could charm even rocks and streams. It is said that the oak trees growing along the coast of Thrace migrated there to better hear the songs of Orpheus.

When Orpheus died, Zeus set his Lyre into the stars, and today we have the constellation Lyra named for this legend. The star Vegas or The Harp Star, is the fifth brightest star that dominates the summer skies in the northern hemisphere, a shining beacon in a creative and boundless Universe.
